FALCONWIRE
6/15/2023 :: First fledge!
The first peregrine falcon fledge by a male occurred today around 3:00 p.m. On-site volunteers have located Green safely hanging out on a lower ledge at the RCSOB.
The flight was observed by Leslie Jester, a Watch and Rescue volunteer, when she tuned into the Falcon Cam this afternoon. Leslie reports: "What a thrill. I haven't been able to make the trip up to Harrisburg yet to watch but managed to sit at my computer for the site's live feed around 2:55 today. Great timing as I witnessed one falcon getting close to the ledge, flap its wings and take off right after 3 PM. He hardly hesitated and seemed so brave. Hopefully, the flight was a success and the ground crew got to witness the first flight!"
Leslie will be joining Watch and Rescue on Tuesday. More updates will follow!
