Our Waukegan pair are back courting inside the nest box. For the past five years the pair has nested outside the box on a nearby beam. Hoping this year they stay inside!

Territorial Disputes are not just a spring occurrence. About a week ago the female from our Waukegan site was picked up injured with head and body trauma and taken to Flint Creek Wildlife Rehab. Unfortunately she passed away from her injuries just the other day.

While we can't 100% say for sure the injuries were the result of a fight BUT... already there is a new bird (unbanded) in the next box courting with the male.
