More drama at Norwich Watch Point when intruder 'DP' returns to @nrw_cathedral #nrperegrines this afternoon. @_BTO. This large female flushed the male off the eggs, then went to have a good look at them before leaving. She was harassed by the male mid-air but still returned a further 3 times. While this was going on there was AT LEAST ONE OTHER UNKNOWN Peregrine flying around, also being chased by the male. This isnt over by a long way....

Norwich Cathedral Peregrine Update- It’s with great regret that we have to report that the third chick has died. The cause of death is inconclusive. However the other two chicks are feeding and look healthy so lets hope that they will continue to do well.

Norwich Cathedral Update 2nd of May 2017 the Peregrines have had an unfortunate morning. Following the death of the third chick. At around 11.27 am GA appears to have left the nest quickly possibly to chase an intruder. In her haste one of the live chicks was accidentally caught in her talon and thrown out of the nest. GA has continued to feed the remaining chick.

Norwich Cathedral Peregrine Chick Will Not Be Ringed.

It has been decided that in the best interest of the Peregrines this years chick will not be ringed. It has already been an unfortunate season for first time breeder GA with the loss of two chicks. The remaining chick is looking big and strong and is very active in the nest. Therefore we would not want to risk the chick leaping out of the nest or any other stress related injuries. The safest thing to ensure the survival of this chick until fledging will be to leave it undisturbed.
